Governance models are the foundation to a good content strategy. In today’s digital landscape, where content serves as the cornerstone of engagement, brand identity, and customer experience, effective governance is paramount.
Working at the City of Austin, we defined editorial guidelines to implement workflow processes. Our approach to the governance model went back to the mission and vision of the department and understanding organizational objectives, audience needs, and industry best practices.

We validated the governance model by getting feedback from key stakeholders and from content strategist through the City in other departments. The feedback I was received was good and I was asked if they could use it as a model for the all departments in the City to use.
